Chinese Ambassador to Israel Du Wei dies in his home asleep

TEL AVIV-(MaraviPost)-The 58 years old Chinese ambassador to Israel, Du Wei has been discovered dead in his apartment in Tel Aviv suburb on Sunday of May 17,2020.

Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Yuval Rotem confirmed this in a statement.

A report by Reuters revealed that Wei’s lifeless body was found in his bed by staff at his residence with no sign of struggle and Magen David Adom first aid service attributed his death to cardiac incident.

Wei was appointed to the role in February and had previously served as China’s envoy to Ukraine.

Earlier this year, Wei expressed his hopes of bringing China and Israel together and addressed anger directed at his nation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, his embassy condemned the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who had criticised China’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic on a visit to Israel.

He has left behind a wife and a son who were not in Israel at the time of his demise and Police have launched an investigation into his death
