Hon. C. Mchacha, Regional Governor for the South, delivered a powerful address at the Southern Region Mega Rally in Nsanje, emphasizing the Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) commitment to regaining political dominance in the region.
The rally, attended by a large crowd, provided a platform for Mchacha to galvanize support for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) and his leadership vision.
During his arrival in Nsanje, Mchacha disclosed that a sitting Member of Parliament had confided in him that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) had lost its foothold in the Lower Shire.
This MP, in a surprising move, provided financial contributions for DPP shadow MPs at the rally, an act interpreted as a recognition of the party’s increasing influence in the area.
Mchacha viewed this as a clear indication of MCP’s waning political hold in the region.
Mchacha’s speech revolved around party unity and the need to rally behind Mutharika as the leader capable of steering Malawi toward economic stability and development.
He conveyed a message from Mutharika, urging DPP members to remain steadfast and dedicated to strengthening their party structures.
Assuring supporters of APM’s readiness and enthusiasm to lead again, he promised that the DPP would restore stability upon returning to government.
Highlighting Mutharika’s past leadership achievements, Mchacha pointed out the progress made under his administration, positioning him as the ideal candidate to drive the country forward. He emphasized that Mutharika’s previous term was marked by economic advancements, infrastructure expansion, and overall political stability—factors that, if reinstated, could significantly benefit Malawians.
The speech culminated in a passionate appeal for action, as Mchacha urged supporters to recognize September 16th as a pivotal date for the party’s revival. Encouraging Malawians to vote for Professor Peter Mutharika, he described him as “Mpulumutsi wa a Malawi”—the savior of Malawi.
The crowd responded with enthusiasm, affirming their allegiance to the DPP through party chants and slogans.
As the rally wrapped up, Mchacha’s remarks left a lasting impact, reinforcing the party’s agenda to mobilize support ahead of the upcoming elections.
