The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has retained its stronghold in Mulanje South East Constituency after incumbent MP Naomi Kilekwa Phiri emerged victorious in the recent primaries.

Phiri secured a landslide victory, beating her closest rivals, Tiyamike Harold Goliati and Davie Mpesi, who reportedly absconded the primaries.

The primaries were closely watched, and Phiri’s victory is seen as a testament to her popularity and the trust the party members have in her leadership.

As the DPP’s flagbearer, Phiri will represent the party in the upcoming elections on September 16.

In addition to the parliamentary primaries, the DPP also held councillor elections in various wards. In Mimosa Ward, Richard Chikwakwa emerged victorious and will represent the party as councillor.

Chikwakwa’s win is expected to boost the party’s chances in the ward, and he will likely work closely with Phiri to deliver development projects to the area.

In Milonde Ward, Clement Misomali won the councillor seat and will represent the DPP in the upcoming elections.

Misomali’s victory is seen as a significant boost to the party’s chances in the ward, and he will likely play a crucial role in mobilizing support for Phiri’s parliamentary bid.

The DPP’s victories in the primaries are a significant development, and the party is expected to build on this momentum as the elections approach.

With Phiri, Chikwakwa, and Misomali leading the charge, the DPP is likely to face stiff competition from other parties, but its strong grassroots support and effective leadership give it a good chance of success.

As the elections draw near, the DPP will likely intensify its campaign efforts, focusing on delivering development projects and services to the people of Mulanje South East Constituency.

With its strong candidates in place, the party is confident of emerging victorious and continuing to serve the people of the constituency.
