According to the director, this cross border casting was deliberate, aimed at enriching the film’s characters and broadening its appeal beyond Malawi.
Bukata tells a compelling love story centered on soulmates who must navigate romance, deep emotions and the realities of everyday life.
The film explores themes of love, sacrifice, hope and resilience, making it relatable to audiences from different backgrounds.
Shaban noted that while the story is romantic at its core, it also addresses real life challenges that many couples face, giving the film emotional depth.
