Former Malawi President Mutharika can enjoy lake breeze as MK69.5m legals fees settled

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika and ex- chief secretary Lloyd Muhara have finally paid MK69.5 million legal costs that they were ordered to pay.

The two were found guilty of forcing on leave Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda and Justice Edward Twea.

The High Court had on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 ordered the seizure of some movable property belonging to the two.

Charles Mhango lawyer for Mutharika and Muhara confirmed the development to saying he received instructions from his clients to pay the two.

Mhango said he has paid a cheque of MK22 million and the other amount has been drawn from the bank accounts of Mutharika and Muhara.

Meanwhile, Khumbo Soko lawyer for HRDC and Magistrates Association also confirmed that he has received a cheque of MK22 million.

Mutharika can now peacefully feel the lake district Mangochi’s breeze.
