BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has dismissed allegations of victimisation against Vice President Jane Ansah, stating that it has not received any official communication from concerned parties.
Chief Secretary Justin Saidi said the allegations were only seen on social media and emphasised that government operates through formal channels.
Speaking to Zodiak, Saidi said, “I’m not aware of the said victimisation. I’m just seeing that on social media. Not everything that comes through social media is true.”
He explained that the reduction in resources allocated to Ansah’s office is due to reassigned responsibilities, including oversight of the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) and reform implementation.
The UTM Party, United Democratic Front (UDF), and Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have condemned the alleged mistreatment, citing underfunding and public humiliation.
They urge President Peter Mutharika to address the allegations openly and decisively.
The controversy surrounds the Vice President’s office, with opposition parties alleging systemic mistreatment.
The government, however, maintains that it follows proper procedures and has not received formal complaints.
The situation has sparked concerns about the treatment of high-ranking officials and the transparency of government actions.
As the standoff continues, Malawians are watching closely to see how the situation unfolds.
