LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In an effort to ensure inclusivity and allow more applicants from remote and underserved areas to access teacher training opportunities, the Ministry of Higher Education has extended the application deadline for IPTE 20 from August 12 to August 30, 2025.

The announcement was made by Minister of Higher Education, Jessie Kabwila, during a press briefing held in Lilongwe on Wednesday, August 6.

Kabwila said the extension comes in response to widespread challenges faced by applicants, particularly difficulties in accessing application forms and limited mobility in some areas.

“We want to make sure no one is left behind,” she said, “This extension gives room for all eligible individuals, including those in hard-to-reach areas, to apply,” she lamented.

The Minister emphasized that the government has deployed trained agents in all zones to assist applicants especially those with disabilities or other physical challenges with the online application process.

She also called on the media to play a key role in disseminating the information, ensuring that it reaches communities across the country.

“We’ve established dedicated help lines on 0887138525,0883682931 and on WhatsApp line on 0882877707 to assist anyone facing technical or accessibility challenges during the application process,” adds Kabwila.

The IPTE (Initial Primary Teacher Education) program is one of Malawi’s key pathways for training primary school teachers, and the Ministry’s efforts aim to ensure that every aspiring teacher has a fair chance to apply, regardless of location or circumstance.
