Kamkwamba Wayera Kumwenda is now ESCOM new boss

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Board of Directors has appointed Kamkwamba Wayera Kumwenda as its new Chief Executive Officer ( CEO).

Confirming the appointment in a statement Maravi Post has seen, ESCOM Board Chairperson Fredrick Changaya says Kamkwamba is a qualified accountant (FCCA) with a Bachelor of Commerce ( Accountancy) Degree and a Masters of Business Administration hence qualifies for the post.

“Mr. Kamkwamba has over 25 years experience. 10 years as CEO, having risen through Press Group of Companies. He has broad based skills set and competencies in general Management, Company Secretarial Services, taxation, auditing, procurement, enterprise risk management, human resources management, and finance management,” says Changaya in a statement.

Changaya adds that the Board believes the vast experience Kamkwamba brings will facilitate the attainment of ESCOM’s mission to power and empower Malawians for social-economic development under the Malawi 2063 vision.

Kamkwamba’s appointment is effective February 8, 2022.
