The former ruling Peoples’ Party (PP) interim Vice President Kamlepo Kaluwa was on Sunday annoyed with the low turn-up of people to his organized rally in Karonga saying it was not normal. Speaking during the meeting, Kamlepo accused his long rival Rev Mzomera Ngwira as the one behind the development.
According to him, Mzomera has been frustrating them in all rallies he organized since he was expelled from the party as a member and provisional chair.
“I know that Mzomera is behind this to frustrate me as he has been doing in each and every meeting I organized as the party’s interim vice President,” said Kamlepo.
“And that some people here have been sent by him to disrupt my rally but what I can tell you is that nobody can destroy it as PP is ever strong,” he added.
However, my coming here is to inform you that Dr Joyce Banda who is currently outside the country will come soon and will stand as the party’s President during 2019 elections.
In his response, Ngwira who is in Lilongwe for Parliament denied the allegations saying “I don’t know anything about the rally and on top, I am still member of PP so it is difficult to do that.”
According to him “Kamlepo is not well known to the people besides being appointed on the back door hence the development.”
Ngwira who has more followers in the north because of being fearless and freedom fighter said “Kamlepo knows the truth that the party’s supporters do not like him but what he want is to deceive Joyce Banda that the party is alive while it is dying.”
He further said Kamlepo is after destroying his reputation especially to Joyce Banda but he is innocent.
The rally was attended by almost less than 70 people and most of them were youths.
Since Joyce Banda left the country, there have been divisions in the party due to the leadership.
