Lucius urges Malawi to Protect Its Identity by standing strong against Homosexuality which he deems a disability

Malawi’s music icon-cum-politician Lucius Banda said Malawi should stand strong to protect its identity and culture despite pressure from other countries forcing the country to go astray.

Banda said this yesterday during a live performance called “gospel by Legends” organized by Mingoli promotions at Sheaffer Gardens in Lilongwe.

In an interview with Maravi Post the Balaka North Parliamentarian said Malawi has traditional and culture that she believes in and it’s unfair to follow other beliefs contrary to hers.

” I don’t want to be homophobic or trying to hurt anybody we have values that we follow as Malawians and we need to respect these values” he said

Banda popularly known as “Soldier” among his fans said he does not regret saying his position publicly on homosexuality describing it as a “disability”.

“Homosexuality is a disability and I don’t condone disability if you are disabled you go and get medicine, you don’t sit and say this is a minority, you don’t create a minority out of a mistake if you eat through your nose not your mouth its abnormal got to a hospital they
should fix it”. Banda said

Recently Banda crossed paths with Center for development for people(CEDEP) executive director Gift Trapence over his gay attacks which apparently made the Musician to end his show prematurely at Zitherepano in Mangochi having seen some men kissing in the audience.

Trapence described Lucius Banda’s comments as homophobic.

There has been a hot debate on Homosexuality for years now in the country since the arrest Steven Monjeza and Tionge Chimbalanga in the year 2010 the first gay couple to have engaged publicly, but were later pardoned by the late President Bingu
