Madison Holdings secure land for complex construction to ease housing shortages in Lilongwe

Madison Holding, a group of companies in security, accessories, Information Technology (IT), tertiary education services has secured 88 hectors of land for the construction of a 300 housed complex in a bid to reduce house shortages rocking the capital Lilongwe.

The piece of land is located opposite to central poultry along M1 road before Kamuzu International Airport (KIA)’ junction which is expected to have a four bedroom house, state of art of gym, swimming pool, basketball court, supermarket, filling station and a moving theater among others.

 

In an exclusive with the Maravi Post on Friday, November 27 after ground breaking ceremony at site, Dr. Desmond Bikoko, Madison Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer expressed gratitude for the land mark of securing the land which is expected to be invested for about US$ 30 million from international financiers.

Dr. Bikoko who is a councilor for Chigoneka Ward in Lilongwe City secured the land after successfully negotiated with chiefs as compensation has been made already to the affected families who were using the land while remaining with paper work with Lilongwe City Council (LCC).

“We would like to announce to the general public that Madison Holdings has secured the land after three years of negotiations with chiefs and LCC. This is a landmark for the much awaited project which will see the city wearing a new face.

“The complex will have 300 apartments of a four bedroom house to ease house shortage in the capital city due its growth. Apart from that, the complex will have, state of art of gym, swimming pool, basketball court, supermarket , filling station and a moving theater and restaurant. These facilities will help surrounding communities in accessing good services for their daily undertakings”, outlines Dr. Bikoko.

Councilor Bikoko disclosed that completion of the complex will require US$30 million which is expected to commerce in 2016 with support from international financiers who have shown interest in the project.

 

“After making proposals to our international financiers on the project, they demanded the presence of land for them start considering the plan. So, with the development, definitely they will carry the news for better negotiations. What has remained is paper work with LCC after we successfully compensated chiefs with their subjects who were using the land for farming.

 

“The project will transform the city’s face. We understand that it’s far from town but the place is strategic as its closer to KIA which serves local and international delegates whose first destiny will be our complex. This will also contribute to the country’s economic growth as many will secure jobs and business”, assures Dr. Bikoko.

Madison Holding established in 2008, is a group of companies which manages businesses not locally available including trainings, recruitment, security management, IT services, accessories, tertiary education provision services.

Currently, it has just opened Riverton University in Lilongwe. With nine years in operation the company has over 200 employees across the nation.
