
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Wholesale and retail prices of petrol and diesel have, with effect from today 9th November, 2019, been adjusted up.
According to a statement released by Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) on 8th November, 2019 and signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Collins Magalasi, the decision follows MERA Board’s assessment of liquidity of Price Stabilisation Fund (PSF), movement of FOB prices on the international markets and exchange rate movements.
The statement puts the new recommended pump price of petrol at nine hundred and thirty Kwacha per litre (K930. 00/ltr ) from the previous eight hundred and sixty eight Kwacha per litre (K868. 00/ltr ) representing 7.14 percent.
On the other hand, the new recommended pump price of diesel is at nine hundred and twenty four Kwacha per litre (K924. 00/ltr) from the previous eight hundred and seventy four Kwacha per litre ( K874. 00/ltr) representing 5.72 percent.
Meanwhile, MERA maintains the pump price of paraffin at seven hundred and fifty Kwacha per litre ( 750.00/ltr).
