BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)–Minister of Information, Communications Technology and Civic Education, Patricia Kaliati has warned Peoples Land Organisation (PLO) leader Vincent Wandale that he risks arrest if he proceeds to distribute land belonging to tea estates in Thyolo and Mulanje districts. This week, Wandale declared that his organization will start distributing land in the two tea growing districts come September 1.
He claimed this was a resolution people of the two districts have made due to Malawi Government and United Nations’ failure to address their concerns.
“We are going ahead. We do not want to follow any law. All we want to follow is our land,” said Wandale.
But reacting to the development, Kaliati said the government is not going to fold its arm and watch while Wandale is contravening the constitution.
“That group has no mandate to distribute land. They are opening jail gates for themselves,” warned Kaliati.
Wandale should have been arrested long time ago, why is government want to arrest wandale now that he wants to distribute the tea estate to locals in Mulanje and thyolo.
This man sometime back, was declaring Mulanje and other districts that side to be independent and yet the same gov was mum on the issue.
Good question Wandale. I was wondering the same thing myself
