Malawi Govt relaunches technical education in Primary schools

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Ministry of education on Monday, April 3, relaunched the Teaching of Technical Subjects in Primary Schools as well as receiving the workshop tools and teaching materials at Senga Model Primary School in Dowa District.

Speaking during the official relaunch of, Minister of Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima said Technical Education helps the youths as well as adults to develop skills, gain knowledge, values and attitudes they need to build sustainable life.

She said that technical skills provide work for life and sustainable livelihoods for even school leavers at this level.

Wirima added that Malawi Agenda 2063, under Malawi Implementation Plan, skills development is given prominence recognizing that it is the only way countries such as Malawi can develop and embrace industrialization.

She said: “I am reliably informed that the tools we are receiving today have been donated by TEVETA at a cost of K10,000,000.00.”

She ,therefore, appeal to all schools that are benefiting from this donation, to take good care of the tools and materials that have received in order to allow other generations use the same tools in future.

The subjects that will be taught under Technical Education are Home Economics and Needle Craft, Wood Work, Metal Work, Brick Work, Indigenous Artifacts and Technical Drawing.
