LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The office of ombudsman says will not allow any external interference in its probe into the selection process of primary school learners to public secondary school.
This follows the outcry from the public on how this year’s selection has been unbalanced across regions.
Following the backlash the government said the ombudsman will carry out a 4 month probe into the process.
Martha Chizuma the country’s ombudsman told Maravi Post that her office will not bow down to any form of pressure during the investigations.
Chizuma said her office is ready to conduct the probe and that the result will be given out within the given time frame.
“No one can give us time line, we are an independent institution we do things according to our own time line.
” we are not in anyway undermining we know how important and agent this issue is,” said Chizuma.
However some quarters have faulted government for instituting an enquiry into the selection without suspending the results.
Education rights activist Benedicto Kondowe said the decision would have been made when the results are suspended to pave way for the investigations.
