The firing by United Democratic Front (UDF) Vice President Iqbar Omar for position of party’s Vice President has sent shockwaves within the party’s political grouping’s rank and file with leaving the party in divided fate.

The revelations were made during press briefing at UDF offices in Lilongwe where among others, the development comes amid after the two warring functions (Atupele camp: where top officials belong and Omar camp: where district governors and rural subjects belong) failed to resolve their political difference in the party hence more division.

Omar refuted: “first of all that is rubbish and nonsense I have never be fired because what allegation they are giving they haven’t called me at District Committee. They should prove if am guilty I will accept but am innocent and am challenging them, this issue is just jealous because in our party there are people who are failure they don’t like what am doing for the party, building it they want the party to be weak”,

“As a matter of fact, they haven’t called me at District Committee through the Secretory General, am ready to give my views and them they should give their views. Where Iwent wrong they should give their views and not only one side hearing because it’s like a rubber stump” he said

Omar one of the UDF veteran did not however reveal the next cause of action if the party fails to resolve the matter, instead said they are committed to continue to fighting for freedom of rural people to build the party.

UDF District Governor for Lilongwe urban Livani Phiri where the crisis emanating from during press briefing concurring with other Governors expressed shock that his own party President is now not ambitious to build the party as opposed to Vice President Omar in the run up to 2019 polls.

“The backbone of UDF party is manifested to the people outthere in the districts not only to hierarchy officials. Therefore, we (District Governors) bemoan UDF President for failure to consult through disciplinary committee and address and settle the political crisis and disputes within UDF party so as to heal the division.
