Malawi President Mutharika’s DPP connected con-men in ‘private lands office’ scam

Mtopwa one!!!

By Patseni Mauka

In an area that has become the specialization of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ‘Ana adad’ cadets, three people were arrested in Lilongwe for establishing a parallel Lands Office where they transacted and sold plots using fake documents.

The three are Mustag Mahomed, Chifuniro Simumbe and lawyer Umahu Mataka. The fourth suspect Alex Mawaya is reported to be on the run.

Mustaq Mahomed, who heavily funds Democratic Progress Party (DPP) activities,is the master minder of the scam.

According to the Nation Online, the con-men sold six plots and the proceeds did not go to account number one of the Malawi government. Some of the plots are believed to have been resold without the owners’ knowledge.

The confirmed sold plots include plot numbers Area 47/1219, plot numbers, Area 43/ 999, Area 43/998, Area 43/995, Area 43/994 and Area 43/993.

It’s not surprising that the mastermind of the land scam has deep connections with DPP.

It is only people with deep connections to the so called ruling party that can pull such a huge scam without fear of the consequences.

Every conman in town knows that the key to being involved in high crime without facing the music is identifying as ‘Mwana wa adadi’ or funding DPP. The examples of such thugs and conmen are many.

Some Ana a dad are forcing Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) and Lands officers to allocate land to them which they later sell to foreigners.

One Mwana wa dad whose mother was in charge of the land ministry promoted himself to deputy minister. He was untouchable.

He used to flamboyantly walk in offices and order officers to allocate land to him which he sold to foreigners. Yet ordinary Malawians struggle for years to be allocated land. This is how we will one day wake up without land.

Examples of thuggery done because of assured protection from prosecution is well documented on videos circulating on social media.

Few weeks ago, Malawians saw a video of DPP cadets, commanded by Isaac Osman, also known as Ntopwa One, mercilessly beating human rights activist, Billy Mayaya. Like in similar cases before, until now, the police have not arrested him despite the availability of overwhelming evidence.

But opposition members are quickly arrested even without any evidence.

DPP connected thugs can also go to a police station and demand release of fellow thugs, harass police officers and get away with it. Ana a dad harass journalists on duty and no one can arrest them.

As rewards for these notorious acts, DPP gives these young men jobs in different public departments and companies. Promotion for cadets or Ana adad does not require proof of competence.

You just need to wear blue and do anything the party considers beneficial for it’s survival in power.

There are many cases of DPP connected con-men and thugs getting away with terror and corruption.

The police fear them. The police are also victims but they simply can’t send these thugs to jail.

Strangely, police are quick to take orders from DPP to arrest opposition members. When the police arrest opposition members, we are told it’s because they didn’t respect the law of the land.

But when Ana a dad terrorize innocent citizens, the police just look away and calls for respecting laws are never heard.

It is the same with corrupt DPP cadets who are untouchable.

The latest land scam must be watched closely until justice is done. It is common for cases involving DPP connected con-men and thugs to drag and eventually die without justice being done.

Most importantly, Malawians need to fight for a system where ruling parties should not abuse our laws.
