
The Malawi Football Team, which is popularly known as The Flames, has risen on the rankings of the World Football Governing Body, FIFA.
According to FIFA’s assessment, The Flames has moved from position 124 to 123 thanks to its splendid performance in the year just ending.
The rankings show that it is Belgium that is top on the list and England is on position three. But Senegal, which is on position 20 in the world, is on position one in Africa seconded by Tunisia which comes on position 27 in the world. In Africa, the Malawi Team is appearing on position 32.
Commenting on the development, coach for the Flames, Meke Mwase, has said the Flames need to pull the socks in order to score highly on the world football rankings.
Meanwhile, a former Flames player, Clement Kafwafwa, has commended the development, but has been quick to advise on the need to play better teams in Africa for the records to reflect truly.
Last month, the Flame beat South Sudan -0 at home, but lost 2-0 to Uganda in African Cup of the Nations preparations.
