BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Silver Strikers Football Club has today beaten Blue Eagles 1-0 in a temperamental game played at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
Silver scored in the second half through Stain Davie from a rebound after Chimwemwe Kunkwawa saved a Duncan Nyoni lowly taken shot.
The Bankers, who are known for their classic passes, did not display their usual style of play as the game was characterized by fouls and tempers from both sides.
The results mean the Bankers are now leading the log table of the country’s flight league with 19 points, two points clear of Red Lions. The Zomba based soldiers will play against Blue Eagles on Sunday at the same venue, Nankhaka Stadium and their victory will see them reclaim the top position.
In other games, Mafco has beaten TN Stars 2-1 at Civo Stadium while Ekwendeni Hammers continued its impressive performance with a 3-1 victory against the limping Chitipa United at Karonga Stadium.
Stain Malata and Alexander Sikwambe scored for Mafco while Chiletso Zoya scored the consolation goal for TN Stars.
