One of Malawi’s leading safari and adventure holiday specialists ‘Malawian Style’ have recently launched two new tours, to incorporate Malawi’s biggest arts event, the Lake of Stars Festival.
Celebrating it’s 10th anniversary on the shores of Lake Malawi, this year being held at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi, the festival will take place on Friday 25th –Sunday 27th September, with three stages featuring both local and international artists and a diverse music bill incorporating electronic, hip hop, Afropop, Afrofusion, reggae, folk, beatboxers, DJs and more.
The Malawian Style tours, which will both conclude at the Lake of Stars Festival, are 16 days long with a range of price options to suit both budget and luxury traveller. Both include safaris and game drives within the breath-taking South Luangwa National Park, as well as water-sports on Lake Malawi, and includes all meals and accommodation.
In the Livingstone tour, travellers will then follow in the footsteps of the great explorer and visit one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World – Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Alternatively, the South Malawi tour will then take in Nankoma Island, Mulanje Mountain, the Liwonde National Park and Zomba Plateau, with a chance to enjoy some of the most beautiful and diverse natural places on the planet.
Both tours will then finish at the Lake of Stars Festival on the shores of Lake Malawi, which was featured by the Independent as one of the ‘top 20 international music festivals’, and described by The Metro as ‘utterly unique….it redefines the festival experience as we know it’. Young Fathers, the hip-hop trio from Edinburgh who won the Mercury Award in 2014 for their debut album Dead, and recently performed on the Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2015, will headline this year’s festival. Previous UK performers at the festival include The Maccabees, Foals, Noisettes, Mistajam and more.
