LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police in Kawale, through its lower formation of Area 24 Police Unit have taken into its custody a 52-year-old man Eliya Chimera for having sexual intercourse with a minor who is his biological daughter.
Kawale Police Station Publicist Mabvuto Precious Phiri told The Maravi Post that the suspect married the mother of the victim and the two were blessed with a girl child in 2012 before marriage break-up.
The Police Publicist added that the couple went on with their lives as divorced individuals and afterwards they all got married to/with other partners.
“Further more it is indicated that the suspect called upon his daughter to be raised by him at Nanjiri. During this time the father took advantage of sleeping with the victim, a thing that was discovered on May 22, 2026 when the girl complained that she was not feeling well which she revealed to her mother that she was pregnant after having multiple times of unprotected sexual intercourse with her biological Father.
“After this, police in Area 24 refered the victim to Kamuzu Central Hospital for examinations which came out positive and immediately a manhunt was launched which led to the arrest of Eliya Chimera,” said Phiri.
The suspect will be appearing in court soon to answer sexual related cases that include incest which contradicts section 138 of Penal Code.
Chimera hails from Tembetembe Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Kachindamoto in Dedza.
