LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) shadow Member of Parliament (MP) for Lilongwe Dzenza constituency Lefnos Chigamula has advised youths to refrain from indulging in activities that can ruin their potential to become productive citizens.
He observes that bad habits are detrimental to personal development.
Lefnos Chigamula said this during the launch of a bonanza worth MK3,000,000 at Kalambo Primary School ground in the area 25 Msungwi, Lilongwe district.
The parliamentarian aspirant further outlined deliberate programs he has put in place for youth development such as the formation of youth clubs aimed at accessing loans, empowering underprivileged girl children to access quality education besides helping child-headed families.
“I have launched the bonanza trophy today solely to make youths busy competing in sporting activities. Let me assure you that l have embarked on this initiative and will continue even beyond the general election,” Chigamula explained.
” Let me emphasize that youths are a crucial sector in our communities and politicians use them for barbaric acts which is a wrong motive. I believe engaging youths in sporting disciplines unearths the hidden talent in them as such benefits themselves as well as the nation at large.
“This event has also provided an opportunity to advise the youths on the need for tolerance, staying away from immorality, and petty jealousy as these bear a negative impact on social and economic development,” Chigamula elaborated.
On the turn-up of party members who patronized the event, Chigamula was short of words, only to thank everyone who came to the function, saying, he was motivated and promised to continue bankrolling sports activities.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, Democratic Progressive Party Lilongwe district governor Sambani Bush commended shadow Lefnos Chigamula for coming up with the concept of uplifting youth’s lives through sporting activities.
District governor Sambani Bush further asked Democratic Progressive Party area members to support the August house job seeker give him overwhelming support during the primary election to be held soon in March 2025, saying, he has demonstrated the spirit of patriotism, selfless leadership in different activities that occur in the area such as funerals, party rallies, supporting party monitors during registration of voters just to mention some.
Concurring with the district governor, DPP youth director Victor Kamodzi expressed gratitude for considering youths in the constituency to engage them in sporting exercise, saying, that sports help to develop physical fitness as well as mentally.
