Malawi’s Blantyre City council bans social gatherings, street vending over COVID-19 scare

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s Blantyre City Council (BCC) on Monday, March 30, 2020 banned street vending, social gathering amid Coronavirus scare.

The ban is with immediate effect including wedding ceremonies, night clubs, sporting activities and among others.

Writing on the council’s Facebook wall says will put vigorous measures making sure that the ban is implemented.

The development comes amid fears that country might not able to contain the virus once it escalates.

Malawi has not yet registered any COVID-19 case.

Two weeks ago President Peter Mutharika declared state of disaster on the virus ordering closer of public and privates schools with less than 100 people in social gathering.
