Malawi’s Kasungu school girl commits suicide

KASUNGU-(MaraviPost)-A 17 year old girl in Kasungu has committed suicide after a misunderstanding with her boyfriend.

According to Kasungu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Harry Namwaza, the girl, Memory Harrison, who was a Form 3 student at Chilanga Community Day Secondary School, had a quarrel with her boyfriend and on Wednesday, she was discovered hanging on a tree.

The death of the girl come bare few days after a woman in the same district also killed herself by drowning in a dam after holding a marital dispute with her husband.

Meanwhile, police in the country advising members of the general public to avoid committing suicide, whenever they have psychological challenges. But instead, they should resort to counselling and other psychosocial therapies.
