LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Peter Mukhito is the Chief of Staff at the State House and a Directorate of all state residence.
He is a senior advisor to the president and he is in charge of looking after all senior govt officials ranging from state residence, parasatals, public institutions, foreign missions and cabinet ministers.
He is among the team that brings suggested names of professionals to the president to be appointed in specific positions.
He hails from Chiradzulu District.
Before being appointed,he served as the Inspector General of Police during Late Ngwazi Dr Bingu’s tenure.
He was the interrogator of Blessings Chinsinga during the infamous Academic freedom saga.
He was an investigator in late Robert Chasowa Murder case.
He is infamous for his directives to the police officers who butchered the 19 innocent protesters in 2011.
Cadets coined the infamous lyrical theme for him “Mukhito sapepesa”
After, too much pressure and public backlashes,it was reported he had committed suicide but he later displayed himself and refuted the propaganda against him.
Rating
According to my layman’s perspective.
2019 Cabinet Appointments, it has few female appointees and that to me is not fair.50/50 campaign slightly failed here.
Most senior govt positions are held by Men and very few are chaired by women, there is a need for improvement.
People from Lhomwe belt are holding almost all lucrative and strategic positions in govt, which is NEPOTISTIC and TRIBALISTIC not good for our Nation.
A small % of youths are holding senior positions, this is wanting and totally unfair.
We have so many youths with required academic knowledge and experience roaming around with no hope of employment.
He has failed to make sure recalled diplomats to come back home even though some of them are illegally holding their positions, wasting our already starved resources.
He has failed to advise the president to demote or fire CEO’s of failed “some” parasatals and public institutions.
He has failed to advise the president to incorporate neutrality in appointing or employing professionals without looking into their party affiliations or tribal ties.
He has failed to advise the president to promote indigenous people through equality and support in AWARDING of contracts and investments opportunities.
He has failed to promote “some” civil servants who have served for years in different public institutions.
He has failed to advise the president to be serious with CORRUPTION & FRAUD SCANDALS in public institutions and foreign missions.
Therefore, I rate him 2/10.
