OYO STATE-(MaraviPost)-At least three people have been killed by police operatives attached to ‘Operation Burst’ following fracas that arose as a result of failure of state Fire Service to subdue the fire that engulfed Akesan Market in Oyo State.

As reported by Punch News, the fire is believed have been caused by electric sparks engulfed the market on Sunday around 12.30 am and destroyed goods worth millions.

The altercation started when officers on duty at the Fire Station that is few meters away from the market said they could not do anything to put down the fire because there was no water in the fire trucks.

This did not resonate very well with the fire victims who resorted to setting the fire truck ablaze together with other properties at the fire station.

When police arrived at the scene to control the situation, three people who were amongst the angry mob have been reported to have been gunned down by the security agents.

When asked about the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Oyo State Police Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi has refused give the details surrounding the incident. He has said that all information will be provided to media once they are through with their investigation.
