MEJN launches initiative to promote equality

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) on Tuesday launched a new project called ‘Promoting Equalities,’ designed to tackle pressing issues in governance, funding, and human rights.

Speaking a stakeholders’ meeting in Mangochi, MEJN Monitoring and Evaluation Chimwemwe Songelani,highlighted the project’s potential to have a lasting impact beyond its immediate beneficiaries.

Songelani said the initiative will engage 70 key stakeholders at both district and national levels, including government officials, traditional leaders, and media practitioners.

He said with funding from NORAD through Norwegian Church Aid and Dan Church Aid, the project will focus on six Area Development Committees in Mangochi.

By 2029, the project aims to empower 300 individuals, including 120 women and 180 men, to advocate for more inclusive policies and social protection programs.
