KAMPALA-(MaraviPost)-President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has refused his son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to retire from the Ugandan army.
On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Muhoozi wrote on his Twitter wall that after 28 years in the military, he had decided to retire.
As soon as his message went out, President Museveni reportedly summoned him and asked him to reconsider his decision. It is unknown at this time what Muhoozi will do.

Last year Muhoozi had threatened to quit the army if the welfare of senior officers was not looked into.
In Uganda, a soldier with the same rank is usually allowed to retire at the age of 60. In order to retire, he must first consult with the Commander-in-Chief.
He also decried the prevalent corruption and incompetence of the administration at the Ministry of Defense.
It is not yet well known why Lt. General Muhoozi is retiring from the army at the young age of 47 years.
Muhoozi was previously the Commenter-In-Chief of Uganda Armed Forces and has previously commanded a special Unit of the Armed Forces.
