MZUZU (MaraviPost)—After suffering a back to back defeat in their recent TNM assignments, rookies Mzuzu University Football Club (Mzuni FC) fondly known as The Green Intellectuals have sent a message to the football fraternity that it is not over until it is over after convincingly beating one of the strong teams in the TNM super League, Blue Eagles by 2 goals to nil at Mzuzu Stadium on saturday much to the relief of Mzuni Coach Alex Ngwira as it was reported that disgruntled Mzuni supporters were baying for his blood following the team’s recent poor performance.
Mzuni FC surprised the experienced Blue Eagles who thought it would simply be a walk over 10 minutes into the first half when a Mabuchi Nkosi free kick was fumbled by Blue Eagles goalie which saw Wacheta Mwenefumbo making no mistake from the rebound but knocking the ball into the net making it 1-0.
Mzuni FC controlled the affairs of the game in the entire first half and it ended 1-0 in favour of the students.
In the second half, Mzuni FC scored the cautioning goal 76 minutes into the second half through a Wisdom Mtika strike making it 2-0.
Elsewhere, Civo United FC defeated Kamuzu Barracks 2-1 and Big Bullets beat Airborne Rangers 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium while Moyale Barracks whacked FISD Wizard 1-0 at Kalulu Stadium.
