NFRA CEO Saukira suspended

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Chief  Executive Officer (CEO) for the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) Nasinuku Saukira alongside the director of finance Peter Salamba have been suspended over the utilization of K611 million intended for procurement of maize without the authority of the line ministry or the board.

Two separate letters of suspension, which are in our possession, signed by NFRA Board Chairperson Dennis Kalekeni, indicate that the two will be on full pay as they await disciplinary hearing at a date to be communicated later.

The two are also accused of procuring services from a garage that was not prequalified.

“The board having considered the seriousness of the highlighted matters, hereby unanimously suspend you from duties with immediate effect” reads the letter to the CEO which has the same content as the one sent to the director of finance.

Saukira was also once fired from the position during the Joyce Banda regime over negligence which led to rotting of 30, 000 metric tones of maize in the strategic grain silos on his watch.
