Nigerian Mortuary attendant cuts off corpse’s head to sell at N50,000

OGUN STATE-(MaraviPost)- A mortuary attendant working with MABOD at Oke-Yidi was arrested for allegedly exhuming and cutting off the head a minor’s corpse to sell at N50,000.

Ogun State Government-owned security, Social Orientation and Safety Corps arrested the accused after he was found exhuming the body in the cemetery around 7pm.

Kushimo Lukman arrested

The Corps Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the news in a statement.

Yusuf said the suspect, Kushimo Lukman, was arrested in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital by the men in uniform on routine patrol while he was severing the head of the deceased boy.

During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that the severed fresh human head of the minor was requested for by one Chief Ifalonishe at the cost of N50,000.

The boy died due to complications from kidney disease before his parents sought assistance of the mortuary attendant to get the body buried, Vanguard reported.

The suspect later went back to the cemetery to severe the head of the buried boy before he was caught after a fierce fight with the So-Safe officer who later overpowered him.

He confessed that the fresh human head was supposed to be delivered to him at a designated point in Abeokuta.

The Commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo, has ordered the operations department of the corps to ensure that the accomplices are apprehended and brought to book alongside his numerous clients.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
