Nyali Institute launches legal manual on SRH rights

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Nyali Institute has launched a legal manual aimed at empowering youths to understand their rights regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH).

The manual was unveiled at a youth gathering in Mulanje on Thursday.

In an interview with journalists,a legal intern at Nyali Institute,Mtendere Njewa highlighted the alarming rise in unsafe abortions among adolescent girls who seek help from traditional healers due to a lack of knowledge about their rights.

Njewa emphasized that educating youths about their legal rights is crucial in mitigating such risks and promoting informed decision-making.

On her part,Esnart Chikupa from Umodzi Girls Youth Club applauded the initiative and pledged to share her newfound knowledge with fellow girls in her community, ensuring they understand their rights and can access safe SRH services.

The initiative formulation was made possible with support from the Government of Canada through the Centre for Reproductive Rights (CRR).
