PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-Prophet Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church, distanced it’s self from the Midrand incident through a social media release on their Facebook page.

The incident involves the death of a man who was killed for theft, they church said that they have no branch in Midrand and that the only branch in Gauteng was in Pretoria showgrounds, which has been closed even before the government stopped the gathering of more than 50.

The incident took place around a fenced piece of land owned by the ECG on which they want to build their church once they are given the permission to do so.

The ECG said that the church will not hesitate to cancel the contract with the external security company if they are found to have acted improperly and also urged the police “to conduct an honest investigation, to come out with facts and deliver justice.”

The statement was published on the evening of May 26, 2020 saying that the church was notified of the incidence by the security company in charge of the premises; explaining that the two thief’s were caught around that area and were mobbed by the community leading to the death of one of them.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele said it is allegedly that four security guards attacked the two friends and accused them of stealing from Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s church (which the ECG has corrected and said its not a church but a piece of land) in Midrand.

Makhubele also said that the two security guards were taken into custody and the other two are still on the run .
