TOMSK-(MaraviPost)-Court in Russia has sentenced Sergey Klimov aged 49 for being the head of the Jehovah’s Witness in the Siberian city of Tomsk.
This has come in following a rullling by the supreme court in 2017 that declared the group an extremist organisation and ordered it to be disbanded.
Klimov is the eighth Jehovah’s Witness member to receive a prison sentence since the law came into effect.
A total of 284 members are under investigation, of whom 46 are in detention and 23 are under house arrest.
As quoted by Dail Mail, Russia’s Presidential Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov said: “there had been ‘no new developments’, though ‘nothing can be ruled out”, when asked about possible changes to the law.
Six other Jehovah’s Witness followers were jailed in late September for extremism.
May Jehovah, their God, give them strength.
