
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Water and Sanitation on Wednesday November 23, 2022 disclosed that government is engaging donors to come and assist the country in the fight against cholera outbreak which is on widespread.
Mia said Cholera outbreak has reached disturbing levels hence the government starts engaging different donors to assist with Water treatment and mass sensitization campaigns about the disease.
She said, government is also focusing on cholera vaccine so as to reduce the spread.
“The government is doing what all it can do defeat cholera outbreak. Now it has started engaging donors so as they come out and help it fighting the disease,” said Mia.
Malawi has now this far registered 9,189 Cholera cases with 283 registered deaths.
Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.
The disease remains a global threat to public health and an indicator of inequity and lack of social development.
