WASHINGTON-(MaraviPost)-United States (U.S.) law enforcers have arrested a woman suspected of sending a letter containing the poison ricin to US President Donald Trump Trump.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the news on Sunday, September 20 in a statement.

Report by CNN revealed that the letter containing a granular substance with similar physical characteristics to ground castor beans was mailed from St. Hubert, Quebec to the whitehouse on Saturday

The poison was discovered at an offsite facility where all mails for the white house are sorted and screened and double tests had been done to confirm the presence of ricin which investigators said suspected it came from Canada.

The woman suspected of sending the letter was arrested at a border crossing in New York state trying to enter the US from Canada while carrying a gun

A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police disclosed that currently they’re working with FBI and the investigation remains ongoing.

Ricin is produced by processing castor beans and is mostly used in terror plots. It can be used in powder, pellet, mist or acid form and it is a lethal substance that, if swallowed, inhaled or injected in the smallest amount can cause nausea, vomiting, internal bleeding and ultimately organ failure.

There is no specific test for exposure and no antidote once exposed but experts say it is more effective on individuals than weapon of mass destruction.
