LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Ministry of Tourism Principal Secretary Dr Ken Ndala is under fire for compromising his powers over his summoning letter to former Miss Malawi Blandina khondowe’s social media political comments.
The former Miss Malawi Blandna Khondowe, who is now working as a civil servant under the Ministry of Tourism has been called for a disciplinary hearing at the ministry for openly supporting UTM Party on social media against civil servants rules and regulations of neutrality.
According to the letter written to her and signed by Dr Ndala has been flouting civil service regulations and the constitution of the Republic of Malawi by writing political comments on her Facebook page critical of the current government of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
However, in her response, Khondowe has stated that the letter is ill-conceived because it has been served to her in a shorter than 21 day period as stipulated by the law.
Ndala’s letter is seen as biased considering that some civil servants in other government departments are also supporting openly DPP and President Peter Mutharika.
For instance, state owned broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation ( MBC) has reporters openly labeled themselves as DPP cadets including Steven Maseya, Grayson Chapita, Stanley Kadzuwa and among others.
These MBC DPP cadets are over on social media but have never been summoned by any government authority.
Ndala’s conduct is ill-advised and uncalled for towards Khondowe as woman.
When contacted as to why the letter was targeting to one civil servant, Ndala referred The Maravi Post to The Tourism Ministry Director Katopola who was not available.
“Its me who authored that letter to Khondowe but am not available for comment on the matter. Just talk to the ministry’s director Katopola”, declines Dr. Ndala.
President Mutharika and DPP machinery are using all tactics to remain in power amid public discontent over its failure to meet people’s needs.
On February 3, 2020 the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) nullified May 21, 2019 presidential polls ordering fresh elections within 150 days.
