WASHINGTON DC – (MaraviPost)-President Donald Trump said he was losing patience with days of indirect negotiations with Iran over a preliminary nuclear agreement.
He described the protracted haggling as “starting to get very boring” during remarks to reporters.
The comments came amid reports that Iranian officials were threatening to walk away from the talks entirely.
When asked about Tehran’s warnings to halt negotiations, Trump responded with blunt indifference.
“I don’t care if they’re over, honestly,’’ he said.
The former president repeated the sentiment for emphasis.
“I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less,” he added.
He then delivered a final, dismissive line.
“If they’re over, they’re over.”
Trump’s remarks underscore a shift in tone from the administration’s earlier efforts to reach a new framework through intermediaries.
The negotiations, conducted indirectly for months, were aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
Diplomats familiar with the process say both sides had been close to a preliminary understanding before talks stalled.
Iran has repeatedly accused Washington of moving goalposts and failing to deliver concrete sanctions relief.
The U.S. has countered that Tehran’s demands have expanded beyond the scope of the original 2015 nuclear deal.
Trump’s public disinterest could embolden hardliners in Tehran who have long argued that negotiations with the U.S. yield little benefit.
It also raises concerns in European capitals that have been working to keep diplomatic channels open.
Analysts warn that a breakdown in talks may accelerate Iran’s uranium enrichment and increase regional tensions.
The statement marks one of Trump’s most direct signals yet that he is prepared to abandon the diplomatic track.
Whether the declaration is a negotiating tactic or a genuine policy shift remains unclear.
For now, the future of U.S.-Iran nuclear diplomacy appears to hang on a president who says he is bored with the process.
