BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Two men identified as Madalitso Richard Simitala, 28, and Micheck Joza Simitala, 26, have been arrested and are currently in police custody for allegedly murdering their 70-year-old grandmother, Felia Simitala.
The incident occurred on the night of March 14-15 in Nsanje district.
According to Nsanje Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Jabulani Ng’oma, the suspects allegedly attacked their grandmother while she was sleeping at her daughter’s house.
The daughter, Maureen Gomiwa, 35, heard a strange noise and found the two men strangling her mother. She raised an alarm, prompting the suspects to flee.
The grandmother was found with a sharp object wound to the neck and died upon arrival at the hospital.
The police are investigating the motive behind the killing, with reports suggesting it may be linked to witchcraft accusations.
