Zimbabwe stepfather jailed 10 years for whipping two-year-old daughter to death

MHANGURA-(MaraviPost)-A court in Zimbabwe has sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for fatally whipping his two-year-old stepdaughter to death.

Chinhoyi High Court judge, Justice Philda Muzofa, passed the verdict after finding the man guilty of murder and kidnapping charges.

According to Herald, the incident happened after the convict, Norest Svova (32), discovered that the toddler had soiled herself along Hunyani River, in Mhangura, on August 30, 2020 which angered him.

He later started beating up the toddler indiscriminately with a stick. When the victim’s mother, Elizabeth Dinhidza, attempted to rescue her daughter, the convict attacked her before he continued beating up the toddler until she died.

The convict later dung up a shallow grave along the river banks and forced Dinhidza to help him bury the toddler before he held the mother hostage to prevent her from reporting the crime.

October 11, 2020, the mother escaped and reported the murder to the police which led to the arrest of the convict who was in searching of his wife at the time.

In August 2021, Zimbabwe’s police also nabbed a man for murdered his stepdaughter for wetting herself and then buried her under concrete in a kitchen hut before he swore the three-year-old’s mother to secrecy.
