Commenting on the draw, FAM Women’s Football Association Vice General Secretary Shambashe Kadzamira expressed satisfaction with the process and anticipated a highly competitive tournament.
“The draw has been conducted fairly, and as the governing body for women’s football, we expect tough competition among the teams. The league was supposed to conclude last year, so teams have been waiting eagerly for this tournament,” said Kadzamira.
She also highlighted the growth of women’s football in Malawi, particularly in the Central Region, where Civil Service Women finished in second place for the first time.
“This shows we are on the right track. I encourage all participating teams to work hard and maintain discipline throughout the competition,” she added.
Central Region Women’s Football Committee General Secretary Caroline Phiri was optimistic about her region’s chances in the tournament, noting that the draw has worked in their favor.
“This draw gives us hope because our teams have avoided facing each other in the early stages, which increases their chances of progressing further. While Southern and Northern region teams pose a challenge, it won’t be an easy win for them,” Phiri stated.
The championship brings together the top two teams from the 2024 Goshen-FAM Regional Leagues, along with two additional teams from the play-offs, which feature the third-placed teams from each region.
