LILONGWE- (MaraviPost)-Sameer Sacranie, the 46-year-old Managing Director of Crossroads Hotel, has been found safe and sound, walking back to his home alone around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night.
Malawi Police publicist Laelo Chimtembo confirmed the news, stating that investigations are ongoing to uncover the details of what actually happened during Sacranie’s abduction.
Sacranie was taken by three men dressed in white robes who ambushed him at his office within the Crossroads Hotel premises, firing two shots into the air before forcing him into a Toyota Fortuner.
The vehicle used in the abduction was later recovered abandoned in Area 6, with two different registration numbers – KA 1444 and KK1008.
The police are expected to release a detailed statement later in the day, shedding more light on the circumstances surrounding Sacranie’s disappearance and subsequent return.
The abduction had sparked widespread concern and speculation, with many calling for increased security measures in Lilongwe.
