BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Agriculture Development Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 set new prices of maize to be sold at MK600 per kilogram against initial farmgate price of MK500 per kg.

This means 50kg of maize will be pegged at MK30,000 against MK25, 000.

The corporation has also set a buying limit of 25 kilograms of maize per individual in its depots that are expected to be opened today.

ADMARC Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Makata justified the move to restrict vendors from monopolizing the market.

Makata disclosed that the staple food will be available on Thursday in all strategic depots.

Barely three months after crop, harvest maize prices have soared hovering in the range of MK30,000 to MK50,000 per kg.
