The editor-in-chief of Sada-e-Ghor (Voice of Ghor) radio station, Bismellah Adel Aimaq in Afghan was shot dead in a car ambush on Friday.

Habibollah Radmanesh, the deputy governor of Ghor confirmed the news on Saturday in a statement.

According to Reuters report, the unknown gunmen attacked and killed the 28 years old renown journalist on friday evening near Firoz Koh city, the capital of Ghor.

Aimaq is the fifth media professional to be killed in the country in two months and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the killings.

In his statement, president Ghani said his government is committed to support and promote freedom of expression.

He has asked all terrorist groups involved in the killings to immediately stop carrying out the attacks aimed at silencing the legitimate voices of journalists and the media.

Targeted killings of journalists, government officials and rights activists, have increased rapidly in recent months as violence surges in Afghanistan despite peace talks between the government and the Taliban.

However, Taliban group in December declined its involvement in the killing of media professionals.
