MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Second Vice President Enock Chihana has called on people of Rumphi Central Constituency to put political differences aside and rally behind their Member of Parliament, Matthews Mtumbuka, saying unity remains the surest path to progress.

Speaking to residents at Rumphi Boma on Monday, Chihana acknowledged that not everyone has fully accepted the outcome of the parliamentary election.

He however emphasized that Mtumbuka is now the representative for all voters in the area, regardless of party affiliation, and deserves collective support to deliver development.

“The mandate given to Mtumbuka is for the entire constituency, not just those who voted for him. When we work together with our MP, we unlock opportunities for roads, water, markets and other projects that benefit everyone,” Chihana told the gathering.

He urged local leaders, community groups and ordinary citizens to partner with the legislator in identifying and implementing projects that address pressing needs in Rumphi Central.

Chihana said government is committed to supporting constituencies where MPs and communities speak with one voice.

Traditional Authority Chief Gonthaminga welcomed the Vice President’s message, saying it had helped calm tensions among residents still processing the election results.

According to the chief, the call for cooperation is already easing divisions and creating space for development conversations.

“The message from the Second Vice President brings peace. When we unite behind our MP, development moves faster. His appeal will strengthen support for projects already underway in Rumphi Central,” Chief Gonthaminga said.

The event at Rumphi Boma drew residents, local leaders and party representatives. Discussions centered on prioritizing community needs and ensuring all areas of the constituency benefit from ongoing government programs.
