LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government has appointed Chikumbutso Mtumodzi as Director of Information.
Mtumodzi replaces Gideon Munthali who is currently answering theft charges at the Ministry of information during former President Peter Mutharika administration.
Mtumodzi confirmed the appointment to The Maravi Post on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
He was the former State House spokesperson for late president Bingu wa Mutharika.
He was appointed by Bingu wa Mutharika from December 2009 up to 2011 and former president Joyce Banda appointed him from September 2013.
In 2016, Mtumodzi was removed from office and replaced by Gerald Viola.
He also worked as deputy principal secretary in the ministry of disabilities.
This is the third time for Mtumodzi to hold the position.
