Gangata to proceed with demos…..

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Leaders from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), including Benedicto Kondowe on Wednesday met with opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Central Region Alfred Gangata to discuss concerns over a planned peaceful demonstration.

The protest scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2025 coincides with the ongoing Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

The meeting aimed to address potential disruptions to the exams.

However, Vice President Gangata has since refuted claims that the DPP leadership has asked him to cancel the demonstration.

Instead he remains resolute in his decision to proceed with the protest.

Alfred Gangata emphasized that the demonstrations will be held on Friday, regardless of the weather or other excuses as the protests will be peaceful.

He believes that the reasons given for potentially canceling the demonstrations are not tangible, and the protests will go ahead as planned.

Gangata’s determination stems from his desire to stand against violence and affirm every Malawian’s constitutional right to peaceful protest and expression.
