LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Opposition Democratic Peoples Congress (DEPECO) Lilongwe North constituents along side with their aspirant lawmaker Patricia Nthanga Msadala on Sunday, May 23, 2021 joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP), the main partner in President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse administration.
The defectors cited good leadership in Chakwera’s government hence the need for support from the grass root.
Nthanga who lost the seat during 2019 elections disclosed that she was back to his native party to assist constituents with numerous initiatives including irrigation for cash crops productions.
She said DEPECO leadership has lost direction that members are left in the dark on its operation.
The aspirant however disputes rumors that she joined MCP eying for the area’s seat.
“I’m back to my party that I can now comfortably help locals without being a legislator. However, if people of this area ask me to stand for them in the coming elections, I will accept their wishes. I will continue supporting them in various water development project including irrigation for better cash crops production,” assures Msadala.
Moffat Chigwedera, MCP’s Chikowa’s Zone Chairperson at Kabudula who welcomed DEPECO constituents along side aspirant Nthanga lauding them for following party structures when joining the party.
Chigwedera therefore assured defectors for eminent supports towards the development of the constituency.
Former MCP Secretary General Chris Daza is the founder and leader of DEPECO.
