LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The embattled Tonse Alliance government spokesperson and Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu has justified President Lazarus Chakwera’s trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) with a ‘lean’ delegation of 35 people.
Kunkuyu says that among the 35 are officials from the State House and ministries of finance, information, trade, and health.
From his ministry, Kunkuyu says he is traveling with a five-people delegation.
The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will take place in New York, the United States of America, with the first day of the high-level General Debate commencing on Tuesday, 19 September 2023.
Chakwera’s trip to UNGA comes amid the general public displeasure with his global trotting while Malawi is in an economic crisis including forex, food shortages, and high cost of living.
Reverend Chakwera has become the worst President Malawi has had with saliva for foreign tours within three years, he has made 40 trips without remorse for hard-earned taxpayers’ money.
Despite the general public discontent with his appetite for the trips, Chakwera has always justified any tour saying it is good for the nation.
