BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has suspended executive committee member Daud Mtathiko following serious allegations of sexual misconduct.
The alleged incident occurred during a recent trip by the Scorchers to South Africa.
In a statement released today and seen by this publication, FAM has stressed the gravity of the accusations and swiftly refuted rumors that Mtathiko was accompanying the Malawi Schools Team to Accra, Ghana.
The statement clarifies:”Mr. Mtathiko is suspended pending a full investigation into these allegations and is not part of the delegation in Ghana.”
This suspension follows FAM’s earlier announcement of a formal investigation into the alleged misconduct.
The association’s decisive action demonstrates its commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and accountability within its organization, particularly regarding sensitive issues such as sexual assault.
